Spin-Offs and Founding

Nanoscribe at career fair

The KIT has a long and well-established culture of founding new companies based on excellent intellectual capital, which is being raised at its research facilities. Inspiring progress and generating new impulses for German research and industry has always been in the organization’s highest interest. This begins with considerable support for research projects to spin off in order to create capable high technology start-ups.

The “Gründungsradar” ranked KIT in 3rd place among the 34 biggest universities in Germany in 2018. This poll by the Stifterverband focuses on promotion of innovation and spin-offs at universities and confirms KITs continued excellent standing among German universities. The base for that review is the effort universities invest in promoting the founding of new companies and the numerical output of that effort. Find more information here.

Since the foundation of the graduate school, the KSOP expedited more than 13 major spin-off projects.
