OSKar, Optics Students Karlsruhe, is a group of enthusiastic students coming from different academic and cultural backgrounds, united by their common interest in sharing knowledge of optics and photonics.

OSKar is part of a worldwide networks of student chapters of the Optical Society of America, OSA and The international society for optics and photonics, SPIE . Both organisations aim to enhance cooperation between scientist, engineers, educators and business leaders working in the field of optics and photonics.

OSKar activities include the participation in international events for students, organised both by OSA and SPIE, which are a great opportunity of networking and extending the knowledge of optics. Also, every year guest speakers are invited to Karlsruhe as a part of the OSA and SPIE Travelling Lecturer Programs. Celebration of International Day of Light, visits to the companies and institutes and a range variety of free time activities for interdisciplinary students is also organised by OSKar.
