German Language Course
German is the language of Einstein, Mozart and Carl Benz. It ranges among the 10 mostly spoken languages in the world. To know German is essential for making Karlsruhe your home away from home. Not only in daily life, but also in regard to your international career: language skills will figuratively open doors for you. Therefore, The Karlsruhe School of Optics & Photonics offers optional German courses as part of the curriculum.
The DaF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache) language courses are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are widely accepted.
Which skill levels are provided ?

Katrina Pangritz, German lecturer, teaches the DaF courses (German as a foreign language) at the International Department of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
- You may choose from courses of levels A1, A2, B2 and C1.
How long does it take?
- one lesson of 90 minutes, twice a week
- one semester per course
When does it start?
- The courses begin in the first week of the semester.

Lecture Period: April 15, 2024 - July 26, 2024
Pentecost Vacation: May 20-25, 2024
- A1.1: Tuesday 2:00 - 3:30 pm & Thursday 11:30 - 1:00 pm
- A1.2: Tuesday & Wednesday 3:45 - 5:15 pm
(Please note: Places guaranteed for students with a scholarship / Europhotonics; other KSOP students depending on place availability) - A2.2: Monday 5:30 - 7:00 pm & Thursday 2:00 - 3:30 pm
- B2.2: Monday 2:00 - 3:30 pm & Wednesday 5:30 - 7:00 pm
